Find & Connect with a Provider
The data provided below will assist you find a clinical resource from a listing of NPIs within your state.
The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Administrative Simplification Standard. The NPI is a unique identification number for covered health care providers. Issuance of an NPI does not ensure or validate that the Health Care Provider is Licensed or Credentialed. You can research the NPI details via the link provided with each resource. Learn more here.

Find a Provider SearchNPI's are organized via specialty categories (taxonomy code). We've structured the search process so you can specify
1. the type of provider - non individual (ex. hospital,agency,..) or individual (ex.physician, therapist,..) then
2. the classification (ex. acute care hospital, laboratory,..) then
3. the specialty (ex. Children's Hospital, Clinical Laboratory).

You can optionally refine the search by travel distance from a starting point (zip code) otherwise all results in the database are provided. A pdf file can be downloaded that contains results of your search.

Each resource has a link to the specific NPI Profile which provides detailed provider information. Three additional links to comparison sources are included. The link is structured to place you in the location (city) thus any other providers will automatically be included for your comparison review. Once at the comparison source most times you can easily switch between resource types (ex. from Hospital to Doctor) by using the menu.
Note not all resources are covered by the comparison sources. They typically cover the 'larger' provider types.

Each time you change a search parameter click the New Search button to refresh the results.

Introduction

There are multiple sources for finding and comparing healthcare providers, such as Doctors and Hospitals, we provide some of the more known sites below. However, the sources employ their own methodology which typically differs between the sites. Additionally, most sites do limit the type of resource they compare. So not all provider types are available. Also be aware 'quality' in healthcare is not the same as quality in a manufactured product. You might want to read about measuring (or defining) quality here.

NOTE: The next four links are included for each provider record when you perform a Find a Provider search on the next tab.

National Provider Identification Registry (NPI): NPI Registry Public Search is a free directory of all active National Provider Identifier (NPI) records. Healthcare providers acquire their unique 10-digit NPIs to identify themselves in a standard way throughout their industry.
Somewhat difficult to use if you do not have basic data to start with.
